Taverekere (Kanti) Srikantaiah, Director and Professor, Center for Knowledge Management at Dominican University joined the Dominican faculty in 1997. He teaches graduate courses in knowledge management and related courses in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) and also cross disciplined courses with the Brennen School of Business (BSB) at Dominican University. Before joining Dominican, Kanti had a distinguished career at the World Bank where he headed varied and important assignments, in the areas of information and knowledge management, at headquarters in Washington D.C. (and also at the World Bank's field offices in Africa and Asia). Prior to joining the World Bank, Kanti worked on building a strong and advanced academic background in sciences as well as in social sciences. Kanti received his B.S(Chemistry) from the University of Mysore; M.S.(Geology) from the Karnatak University; M.S.I.S. from the University of Southern California; M.P.A. from the University of Southern California; and his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. He also worked at the Library of Congress as an area specialist and taught at the California State University, as an Associate Professor. He has also taught for many years as an adjunct faculty at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C, and as adjunct faculty at Syracuse University, University of Wisconsin at Madison, University of Maryland at College Park, and at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). His area of specialization includes Systems Analysis, Content Management, Organization of Knowledge, Management of Information Repositories, Environmental Scanning, Information Audit, Project Management and Knowledge Management. Among others, his research output covers: several research studies and project reports at the World Bank; articles and presentations at IFLA and similar international organizations. He was invited to conduct one week KM workshops in Singapore and India in 2004. He was also a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) during June-August 2006. His latest book, as the co-editor, Knowledge Management: Context and Connections is with the publisher and will be published in 2007. He was the chief editor of Knowledge Management for the Information Professional, published by Information Today Inc., as part of the ASIS&T Monograph series. He was the co-editor for Knowledge Management Lessons Learned: What Works and What Doesn’t published by information Today Inc., as part of the ASIS&T monograph series. He has also published two other prominent books one on systems analysis and the other on quantitative research methods.
In terms of his contribution to Kannada culture and theatre arts, he has served as the president, vice-president and as an advisor for Kaveri organization—Washington’s metropolitan organization. He has written, acted and directed many plays. He is the founder President of Natya Bharati, an Indian community theatre organization for which he produced and directed plays. He is also the President of Sahara, a charity organization for which he wrote English plays and directed three of them and raised a large sum of funds some of which was distributed to needy organizations in Karnataka.
Over the past three decades he has directed, acted and contributed to various plays like Maduve Dallali, Aliya Devaru, Hayavadana and Beralge Koral and other plays staged by Kaveri. His directed “Beralge Koral” has been a success in many parts of the United States and has been invited to perform in New Jersey in the Asian Theatre Arts Festival in July 2007.
